Blake Lively is all about minidresses right now. After taking a break from the color wheel last month for a rare LBD moment, Lively went back to her rainbow aesthetic for Gigi Hadid’s 27th birthday party in New York City. on April 23, the Gossip Girl star arrived at Zero Bond wearing a vibrant purple minidress that fit her like a glove.
Lively kept her long blonde hair loose and wavy and complemented the dress with a pretty pink lip. To break things up, Lively paired the look with bright red pumps and a matching clutch.
Lively’s look couldn’t have been more different than the birthday girl’s if she done it intentionally. The guest of honor embraced the see-through trend in every aspect of her white lace Dion Lee set, complete with a sheer lace corset, pants, and floor-length overcoat with ’80s-inspired shoulder pads.
Hadid kept her long blonde hair pulled back in a pony and opted for a bold cat eye, a soft bronzy contour, and a matte mauve lip. For that added Bridgerton aesthetic, she layered a series of pearl and gold necklaces.
Gigi Hadid and Blake Lively have been close friends for years after meeting through mutual bestie Taylor Swift. Hadid even turned to the mother of three for advice when she was concerned about protecting her daughter Khai’s privacy. Lively shares three daughters—seven-year-old James, five-year-old Inez, and two-year-old Betty—with her husband Ryan Reynolds. Hadid and her ex, Zayn Malik, welcomed Khai in September 2020.
When Vogue reached out to Lively in 2021, the actor said her advice was fairly straightforward. “I told her you have to do what works for you,” Lively said. “Gigi has a really special relationship with her fans, and I love how open she is on social media. I love seeing into every world…. I’m grateful for what she shares but also understand whatever boundaries she chooses to set.”
In August 2019, Hadid penned a touching birthday tribute to Lively on her 32nd birthday. “It’s this Queen’s birthday week and I just want to say how grateful and lucky I am to have a friend like you, B,” she wrote. “You are a real one and inspire me in so many ways,” Hadid wrote in the caption of a photo that shows her and Lively hanging out in someone’s kitchen. “I will only be able to thank you enough by making you endless oatmeal griddle cakes and training your children to be world-class disposable-camera photographers. I love you! Wishing you every blessing.”
