Dying Light 2 New Game Plus Release Date Announced

Developer and publisher Techland confirms exactly when Dying Light 2 fans can expect the long-awaited New Game+ feature to come to the game.

Since launching open world zombie game Dying Light 2 earlier this year, developer Techland has released a number of updates to address fan feedback, fix bugs, and generally improve the experience for all players. One of the most highly-requested features since launch has been the inclusion of a New Game+ mode, and now Techland has confirmed exactly when Dying Light 2 players can expect it to be available in the game.

As it so happens, Dying Light 2 fans don’t have to wait long at all to check out New Game+. Techland has confirmed that Dying Light 2 New Game+ is coming in update 1.3.0, scheduled to launch on Wednesday, April 27. Techland also touched on what exactly New Game+ means for Dying Light 2 players, confirming that players will retain their character progress as is usual of the feature, but with tougher enemy encounters and new inhibitors to find that let players upgrade Aiden even further.

Dying Light 2 New Game+ will also include more difficult challenges for players to tackle. This will include encounters with “golden marks” that feature more challenging enemies for Dying Light 2 protagonist Aiden to content with, as well as a quest called “Something Big Has Been Here.” Details on what exactly the Something Big Has Been Here quest will entail have not been revealed at the time of this writing, but Techland says that it will include “new infected with new attacks.” Those that manage to conquer these challenges will get some Legendary weapons and other valuables for their efforts.

Dying Light 2 update 1.3.0 with New Game+ will be released for all versions of the open world zombie game, but one new feature is exclusive to the new-gen version of the game. those who play Dying Light 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X can look forward to the addition of an FOV slider when update 1.3.0 launches on April 27.

Unfortunately, there’s still no update on when exactly fans can expect to play the Switch version of Dying Light 2. It’s still expected to arrive at some point within the next few months, but Techland is still keeping quiet about when fans will get to play it. It’s also unclear what state the Switch version will launch in when it is available. It’s possible that the Switch version will launch with all the updates that have been released for other versions of the game, meaning players can enjoy New Game+ and the other benefits of update 1.3.0 out of the box, but it’s also possible that it will be more in-line with how the game was when it first launched. Fans will need to stand by for more information on that front.

Dying Light 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with a Switch version also in development.
